Students, faculty and staff from MGH Institute of Health Professions will spend several hours on September 14 in collaboration with Charlestown neighborhood groups to offer tips and strategies to improve the health of residents’ lives.
During Charlestown Community Day, more than 300 students in nursing, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology are expected to assist the elderly, mothers, and children throughout town.
Initiatives include health walks with the elderly, including the Golden Agers and residents of the Boston Housing Authority, health promotion strategies such as smoking cessation tips, advice for parents about early literacy for their children, and cleanups of Lowney Park and Harvard Mall Park.
The Navy Yard graduate school is currently celebrating its 35th anniversary and its 10th year in the Charlestown community.
