During an interview at city hall last Thursday, Mayor Thomas Menino reiterated the announcement that was made in April that the city will be making 95 parks improvement projects, accounting for over ¼ of all capital projects with an expected cost of $90 million.
Included in that number is Doherty Park.
The mayor said the Doherty Plark will receive upgrades and replacement of equipment.
“There will be a resurfacing of the park and the replacement of the older children’s equipment with all new play equipment,” said the mayor.
“Parks bring people together,” he said. “It is just as important to reinvest in parks as it is to invest in buildings. Wherever neighbors can come together to have fun and to connect with one another this is important to a neighborhood. I’m excited that this capital plan makes play a priority.”
