Assumption wing Tommy Mahoney scored a goal and blasted seven shots on net as the Greyhounds fricasseed Post to the tune of 5-2. Mahoney added a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw with Westfield St…Maine wing Nolan Vesey laser-beamed two shots on net in the Black Bears 7-4 dismantling of Quinnipiac. Vesey added an assist and three shots on net in a 5-3 rematch victory the next night…Salem St. wing Rose Sullivan rifled two shots on net and Danielle Kelley added another but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Vikings fell to Franklin Pierce by a score of 4-1…UMass-Dartmouth wing Patrick Wrenn whacked a shot on net in the Corsairs 5-4 OT thriller over UMass-Boston…Army wing Trevor Fidler walloped two shots on net in the Cadets 4-3 win over UNH.

Manchester wing Mike Doherty tallied two assists in the Monarchs 5-2 beat-down of the Norfolk Admirals.

 

2017 HIGH SCHOOL WINTER SPORTS

  • Hockey

Worcester Academy superstar Micaela Sindoris scored a goal and added four assists in the Hilltoppers 6-3 triumph over Southfield. Micaela added two goals and an assist in a 6-4 victory over Thayer.

  • Basketball

Charlestown freshman guard Omar Quilter (18 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists) and forward Jason Resende (13 points, 5 rebounds) helped the Townies start their season with a 51-28 shellacking of Boston English…Kimball Union forward Nicolas Timberlake tossed in 37 points in 28 minutes in a 78-49 thrashing of Exeter.

 

PREP SCHOOL HOCKEY UPDATE

Nobles and Greenough senior wing Sean Wrenn tallied two goals and three assists in a 6-0 drubbing of Belmont Hill…Worcester Academy senior sensation Micaela Sindoris notched a goal and two assists in the Hilltoppers 5-1 pasting of Tilton. Micaela added a goal and an assist in a 3-0 blanking of Portsmouth Abbey…Congrats to Belmont Hill freshman defenseman Will Killoran who is already making an impact on the varsity squad.

 

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON

Assumption senior standout wing Tommy Mahoney, son of former New England College “Townie” standout Jim Mahoney, was selected as NE10 Conference Player-of-the-Week. Tommy notched three goals and two assists in two games (a win and a tie) and has 12 points (five goals and seven assists) in 13 games.

 

A RECORD, AND THEN SOME

Only three games into the season, senior superstar wing Micaela Sindoris has already set the girls hockey career scoring record at Worcester Academy. Her 124 points is certain to increase substantially before the NEPSAC tourney season comes to a close. The Hilltoppers are off to a 3-0-0 start with Micaela posting 3 goals and 7 assists.
