2017 HIGH SCHOOL FALL SPORTS

On the gridiron, Everett (3-0) and assistant coach Joe McLaughlin and senior linebacker Jonte Joseph are ranked #1 in the latest Boston Herald Top 25 poll. BC High (3-0) and sophomore defensive end Henry Alitz are ranked #3 while Melrose (3-0) and assistant coach Jim Kent hold down the #18 spot…Congratulations to Charlestown Coach Dave Cahill and standouts Steven Williams (junior quarterback), Shaun Singleton (senior linebacker), Kewin Paul (junior running back), Kivans Seide (junior tackle), Melvin Jones (sophomore safety) and Juan Basabe (freshman safety). The Townies (2-0) are ranked #6 in Division 8 North…On the soccer field, Boston Latin (4-0-2) and senior goalie sensation Jack Evans are ranked #10 in the Boston Herald poll.

 

A MONK SWIMMING

St. Joseph College (ME) second baseman Patrick Kelly made a nifty diving stop on a ground ball during a Fall season game last weekend. Kelly also smacked a single and scored a run in the 5-3 loss.

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

  • 2017 Little League Banquet!
    Thursday October 26, 6-8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall on Medford St. Rookie, AAA, and Major league players and family are invited to attend this awards dinner. Pizza, soft drinks and desserts will be served.
  • The 3rd Annual Ryan ‘Duce’ Morrissey Cornhole Tournament will take place on Oct. 8, 9:30 to 11 a.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The entry fee is $50 per team and proceeds go to the scholarship fund.
  • The Abraham Lincoln Post 11 GAR will hold its annual 50/50 fundraiser on Nov. 15 at 8:30 p.m. in the Warren Tavern. Only 200 tickets will be sold and the winner takes home $5,000.
