The Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library, which is located at 179 Main Street, will reopen on Monday, November 26, at 12 p.m. after several months of building improvements. The improvements include the replacement of the gas heater, electric cooling roof top unit, and associated fans; replacement of the roof and windows; installation of new controls and room temperature sensors; installation of new window treatments; various concrete repairs; and landscaping.
In addition, the Charlestown Branch’s collection of books has been reorganized and refreshed for readers of all ages, and the adult area and meeting room have both been repainted. A new children’s librarian will be joining the Charlestown Branch team in time for the November 26 opening as well. A self check-out machine and early literacy nook will be installed at the Charlestown Branch in early 2013.
