Boston Police Department Spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll has been offered a position as the Gaming Commission’s first director of communications.
The Gaming Commission this week made the offer to Driscoll, who is now apparently negotiating a contract with the commission.
Driscoll has been the BPD’s spokesperson since 2006 and as such, has a strong network of contacts with the Greater Boston news media, print, electronic and television primary among them.
Before coming to the BPD, Driscoll worked in 2005 as vice-president of corporate communication for SBE Entertainment Group in Los Angeles. Prior to that, she worked as a consultant to former Congressman William Delahunt and has been a senior vice president of the well known local public relations group, Regan Communications.
Driscoll applied for the job. The Commission chose her, according to the comments of a Commission spokesperson, because of her extensive contacts and experience.
Driscoll is a widely quoted spokesperson.
