John ‘Jackie’ Dewey
Retired Federal Bank of Boston Supervisor; member of Bunker Hill Council K of C, Old Charlestown Schoolboy’s Assoc., Halligan Club, and the Bunker Hill Assoc.
John A. “Jackie” Dewey, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Wednesday, July 13 at Winchester Hospital in Winchester. He was 63 years old.
Jackie was born on June 16, 1953. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. Jackie worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for 46 years, holding the position of Supervisor. Jackie was a member of the Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus, The Old Charlestown Schoolboy’s Association, the Halligan Club, and the Bunker Hill Associates.
The beloved son of Mary (Reilly) Dewey of Charlestown and the late Laurence A. Dewey, he was the devoted brother of Mary Jane Dewey and Tom Junta of Wilmington, William “Billy” Dewey of Charlestown and the late Laurence E. “Larry” Dewey, the loving brother-in-law of Nancy Dewey, loving uncle of Michael A. Dewey and his wife, Cara, Veronica Dewey, Nanci Dewey and her partner, Mike McKenna, and great-uncle of Charlotte, Max, Desmond, and Holden. Jackie was a devoted friend to Tommy DeRosa and Tommy O’Neil.
Funeral arrangements were by The Carr Funeral Home, Charlestown. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
