Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nahomi Carlisle, Esq., to the position of Chief Equity and Compliance Officer (CECO) of the College. In this new role initiated by BHCC’s Equity Work Group (EWG), Carlisle will collaborate with the College’s equity leaders to advance institutional equity work at BHCC. Carlisle will also serve as the College’s Affirmative Action Officer, and Title IX and Section 504/ADA Coordinator.
Reporting to the College President, Carlisle will provide vision, leadership, planning and oversight for programs, policies and procedures related to the institution’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. In this role, she will facilitate the integration of equity and cultural wealth into all aspects of institutional life for students, faculty and staff, and will advocate on behalf of the College in forwarding the values of equity and inclusion in the community-at-large, and within the community college movement regionally and nationally.
Carlisle previously served as the Director of Diversity & Inclusion/ADA Compliance for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, where she oversaw internal compliance with the Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity programs for the 3,000+ employee agency and acted as an integral part of the executive team on diversity and inclusion goals, program development and planning. She has practiced as an attorney for more than ten years with the legal background and experience to assist the College in its compliance work. She has a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and has dedicated the last several years of her professional career to creating sustainable equity. Carlisle received her Bachelor of Arts from Bentley University and her Juris Doctorate from New England Law.
