Graduation exercises for the Class of 2018 took place on Monday, June 11, at the Case Gymnasium on the campus of Boston University.
Shortly after 3 p.m., the graduaåtes clad in red caps and gowns filed into the arena and took their seats in a reserved front section as a newly formed school band performed “Pomp and Circumstance.”
Singing was part of the ceremony this year.
Randy Lara, a member of the class of 2020, led the singing of the National Anthem and graduate Victoria Massey performed ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing.’
Welcoming all and delivering the Alumni Address was Kharlita Chambers-Walker, a member of the class of 2013. Also addressing the graduates Headmaster Will Thomas and City Councilor Lydia Edwards.
This year, three students were selected to be valedictorians: Minghue Lao, Tuan Tran and Sydney Bussiere. All three addressed their classmates.
Bussiere has been awarded a full academic scholarship to Bowdoin College in Maine.
The calling of the graduates was led by assistant headmaster Chris Teulet-Cote. Diplomas were presented to 162 graduates. As the graduation came to a close, Case Gymnasium was a colorful site as the graduates celebrated with their families and friends.
