Chris Remmes, a resident of Charlestown, announced that he has formed a committee to explore a campaign for the 2nd Suffolk State Representative seat held by Eugene O’Flaherty since 1997.

Remmes, 48, is a local Realtor, Chair of the Charlestown Democratic Ward, and active member of the Charlestown community.  A graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Chris received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Boston University.

“With the support of family and friends, I’ve decided to explore a candidacy for State Representative of Charlestown and Chelsea,” said Remmes.  “Over the coming weeks, I look forward to continuing my conversations with voters and neighbors to hear their concerns and priorities for our community,” said Remmes.  “I’ll gauge support for a problem-solving, responsive, and progressive candidate to represent Charlestown and Chelsea on Beacon Hill.”

As Chair of the Charlestown Democratic Ward Committee, Chris played a key role organizing one of the City’s first Mayoral Forums in Charlestown earlier this year.  Chris has represented Charlestown as a Delegate to the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention, is a member of the Human Rights Campaign, and has been active in numerous local political campaigns for progressive candidates.
