Suspect in Murder Still at Large

Authorities are still searching for the Charlestown man wanted in connection with the May 7 murder of Steven Jones.

Suffolk County D.A. spokesman Jake Wark said investigators are still hunting down leads to the whereabouts of Pablo Flores Jr. who is a fugitive from justice.

Flores, 20, is being sought in connection with Jones’ shooting death near the intersection of Medford Street and Monument Avenue. Boston Police responded to the scene just after 10:15 p.m. on May 7 to find Jones mortally wounded.

The Suffolk County D.A.’s office took out a warrant for Flores.

“If anyone has any information on his whereabouts we are asking them to come forward and their identity will remain anonymous,” said Wark.

Meanwhile, Flores’ younger sister, Jelaine Flores, 18, of Charlestown was arraigned on charges that she threatened potential witnesses to Jones’ slaying.

The murder suspect’s sister was charged with two counts of witness intimidation and one count of making annoying or harassing phone calls.

Assistant District Attorney Gretchen Lundgren recommended that she be held on $2500 cash bail. Judge Lawrence McCormick exceeded that recommendation and imposed a $3500 cash bail. Flores was additionally ordered to wear a GPS tracking device, and have no contact with the victims if she posts that amount.

“If you threaten a witness to stymie an investigation, we’re going to charge you,” said D.A. Daniel Conley. “It’s that simple. No one should be threatened, insulted, intimidated, or coerced because of what they know.”

According to Conley’s office in the days following Jones’ homicide, Flores allegedly contacted two potential witnesses to the crime, threatening both with bodily harm. She allegedly threatened one during a phone call and the other in a Facebook message, allegedly calling that victim a “snitch.” Both incidents were intended to derail the investigation into Jones’ homicide, prosecutors said.

Anyone with information on Jones’ shooting death, no matter how peripheral it might seem, is urged to contact Boston Police. Likewise, anyone with knowledge of Pablo Flores’ current whereabouts is also urged to contact investigators. Homicide detectives may be reached at 617-343-4470.
