Charlestown saw the most dramatic drop in crime in 2012 than any other neighborhood in Boston.

Crime was down 24% in 2012 and there were 161 less total Part One crimes when compared to 2011.

The dramatic decrease in crime in 2012 makes Charlestown the safest neighborhood to live, work, do business or raise a family in all of Boston.

The biggest drop in crime was concerning larceny. There were 432 in 2011 and only 309 in 2012.

There were no homicides in 2012 in Charlestown compared to 2 in 2011.

Vehicle theft dropped dramatically going from 67 in 2011 to 40 in 2012.

Burglary also dropped going from 80 in 2011 to 63 in 2012.

There were only 2 reported rapes in Charlestown which is down 2 from 2011.

There was no change in robbery. There were 31 in 2011 and the same in 2012.

The only spike Charlestown saw was in aggravated assaults. There were 51 in 2011 and that number rose by 10 to 61 in 2012.
