The pantry and shelves for Charlestown’s Harvest On Vine food pantry are getting low.  The following statement was issued.

“We need to replenish our stock very soon.  With the economy being hit hard and Johnnies Food Master closing down, our need for your support has increased.  We are asking for your help to feed local families in need.

We are kicking off the New Year with a “Harvest for the Vine” rice drive. We need three lb. bags of white rice for our pantry. (one lb. bags will do as well) So, the next time you go to the grocery store, remember those less fortunate and pick up some extra bags of white rice. It’s easy, inexpensive and will make a difference for a local family.

You can drop off the bags at Harvest on Vine at 49 Vine St. Charlestown or at The Cooperative Bank 201 Main St. Charlestown. You may also make a financial donation to the rice drive.  Please make checks payable to Harvest on Vine.

We would like to thank the following organizations and businesses who are organizing this Rice Drive.   Harvest On Vine, C.H.A.D., The James Conway Bunker Hill Post 26 American Legion and The Cooperative Bank.

If you have questions about the Rice Drive, you can call Tom MacDonald (617) 242-1750, Bill Boyle (617) 645-3279 or Tom Coots (617) 242-0380.
