State Senator Sal DiDomenico defeated Charlestown’s Barbara Bush in her first foray into the political arena in balloting Tuesday.
DiDomenico received 29,268 votes to Bush’s 8474 total for a 78% – 22% margin of victory.
“I am extremely pleased,” DiDomenico told the Patriot-Bridge. “The people have spoken powerfully. I won’t let them down.”
Earlier in the week Bush said she was feeling a Republican surge.
“I’m very confident,” she said.
But when all the votes were finally counted, DiDomenico’s strength had been made apparent.
