KILLORAN WARRIOR LEGACY LIVES ON

Congrats to Brigid Rita Killoran for her selection as a Sisters of St. Joseph Scholar. Kiloton will be attending Matignon in the fall of 2017. A multiple sport standout, Brigid hopes to continue the Warrior legacy of her Hall-of-Fame dad (Mike) and uncle (Kevin).

 

GOOD GENE POOL

Bill “Nippy” Nolan’s grandkids are having quite a season in Braintree. Braintree (10-5) senior forward Nicolas Timberlake threw in 39 points in a 68-64 setback to Newton North and sophomore sister Adrianna is one of the dominant players for #3 ranked Braintree (13-3). The Wamps standouts are the children of “Nippy’s” daughter, Dineen. The Braintree girls will be playing a top-ranked Revere High girls team at Malden Catholic on Saturday, Feb. 18

Meanwhile, Hingham All-Scholastic cross country phenom Liam Nolan still wears the “Townie” necklace given to him by his grandfather, and Charlestown Townies football legend, “Nippy” Nolan.

 

HOCKEY

Boston Latin defensemen Devin Gallagher (goal, assist) and Mark Williamson (assist) powered the Wolfpack to a 7-1 demolition of Concord-Carlisle. East Boston defenseman Jacob Leavitt blasted a goal in the Jets 6-0 bulldozing of Nashoba Valley. Matignon wings Charisse Flanagan (2 goals, assist) and Maeve Leahy (2 assists) helped the Warriors steamroll Auburn by a 10-1 score. Matignon wing Charisse Flanagan notched a goal and an assist in the Warriors 3-0 blanking of East Catholic (CT).

Worcester Academy wing Micaela Sindoris notched an assist in the Hilltoppers 1-0 conquest of Vermont Academy. Malden Catholic wing Cam Delvalle scored the Lancers lone goal in a 2-1 setback to Catholic Memorial.

In the most recent Boston Herald Division I poll, BC High was ranked #2 and Malden Catholic #4. In Division III, East Boston was #6 and Latin Academy #9. On the girls side, Boston Latin was #10 in Division I and Matignon was #3 in Division II.

 

BASKETBALL

Winchester guard Liam Fitzpatrick scored 13 points in a heartbreaking 51-50 loss to Reading.

The Boston Herald “hoop” poll included Braintree (girls) as #5 overall and Pope John XXIII (boys) as #4 in Division 4 North. Pope John XXIII forward Patrick Kelly posted 17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals as the Tigers pounded Austin Prep to the tune of 80-54.

 

COLLEGE HOCKEY

Northeastern wing Brendan Collier tallied an assist in the Huskies 6-2 pounding of UMass. Collier also tallied an assist in the Huskies 4-2 triumph over Boston College. Army wing Trevor Fidler posted an assist in the Cadets 5-4 triumph over Niagara. Tufts wing Conal Lynch slammed home a goal in the Jumbos 4-0 shutout of Amherst. Maine wing Nolan Vesey scored a goal in the Black Bears 3-2 loss to Notre Dame. Salem St. wing Jacqueline Sindoris notched a goal in the Vikings 4-2 setback to Becker.

 

SWIMMING

Mystic Valley junior Samantha Dagle qualified for the Division II State championship in both the 200 Medley Relay and 100 Backstroke.
