  • Softball Call

Teenagers between the ages of 13-15 (a player must not turn 16 until after August 1) interested in playing in a summer baseball program must be registered no later than MAY 20th. To register for the program, a completed Senior League registration form and fee payment of $100 should be submitted to Little League executives Dave and Sharlene Cahill, or coaches Kevin Kelly and Quinlan Locke on or before the May 20 due date. Forms can be downloaded at www.leaguelineup.com/charlestown-l-l .  Only registered players will be allowed to participate.  Games (home and away) are played Monday through Thursday and opponents will include programs from Medford, Arlington, Brighton, Somerville, Winchester, Revere, Arlington, Belmont, Lexington and Waltham.  Practices will begin at Ryan Playground (the “Neck”) during late May or early June.  For further information, please contact Quinlan Locke at the Boys/Girls Club pool, or E-Mail Kevin Kelly at [email protected].

At the halfway mark of the spring sports season, several “Townie” teams are in contention to clinch a spot in the MIAA tourney. Junior shortstop Patrick Burke spearheads a juggernaut Austin Prep squad that has been barnstorming to a #1 ranking in Division III North…Junior southpaw Chris Tucker (2-0, 1.50 ERA) and sophomore catcher Mike Ward lead a potent Latin Academy team that has their sights set on the City of Boston championship…Sophomore hurler Anthony Bolger (2-1, 4.40 ERA) and freshman standouts Victor Baez, Ceasar Martinez and Darwin Baez have a rebuilding Charlestown well on their way to a fourth consecutive tourney appearance…Pope John XXIII junior shortstop Patrick Kelly (.350 AVG, 17 putouts/20 assists) has helped the Tigers achieve a #4 ranking in Division 4 North and position themselves for a tourney bid for the first time since 2000…Arlington Catholic junior catcher Danny Settipani looks to lead the Cougars to a strong second half finish in the highly competitive Catholic Central League…While the record may not indicate it, St. Clement assistant coach Nick Codair, sophomore first baseman Luke von Hunnius and freshman outfielder Xavier Nunez have helped the Anchormen take huge strides on the way to respectability.

  • Softball

Bishop Feehan freshman catcher Gabrielle Comeau continues to contribute on offense for the #21-ranked Shamrocks…Sophomore speedster Micaela Sindoris and Worcester Academy are well on a pace to qualify for the NEPSAC tourney…O’Bryant standout junior third baseman Maeve Fittz leads a talented “Townie” cast that includes senior Carly Cahill, sophomore Caroline Adducci and 7th grader Brigid Killoran. The Tigers seem a lock to play a factor in the state tourney…The same can be said for crosstown rival Latin Academy. The Dragons, led by 7th grade phenom Carleigh Schievink (1-0, 1.75 ERA, 1 save), freshman outfielder Jessica Rynne and 8th graders Shamyia Banks and Ann Merullo, look to capture the Cit League title…Sophomore first baseman Taylor Cotter has been a bright spot for Elizabeth Seton Academy.

  • Lacrosse

Revere junior attacker Eddie Sullivan (42 goals, 14 assists) has the Patriots on track to snag a state tourney bid and is rapidly moving up the career-leader charts…Malden Catholic seniors Ronan Carrier and Hughie O’Donnell have played big roles for the Lancers. O’Donnell also has several sensational highlight reel videos on the MAXPREPS website…

The “Townie” trio of juniors Caroline Collier and Emily Pardy and sophomore Claire Lakus should help Boston Latin be a team to be reckoned with as the Wolfpack continue to make strides.
