Letter to the Editor

A wonderful turnout

Dear friend of the Kennedy Center,

On Saturday, June 20, 2015, over 260 people attended the Kennedy Center’s 50th Anniversary Benefit and BBQ at the Bunker Hill Knights of Columbus. Their attendance affirmed the community’s support of the Center’s mission to provide individuals and families in need services, opportunities, and the tools they require to lead productive and fulfilling lives.

This casual yet elegant affair featured Stephen Kurkjian, as Master of Ceremonies, a key note speech from Massachusetts Attorney General, Maura Healey, delicious BBQ from Red Bones, special recognition of the people who have enabled the Kennedy Center to carry out its mission, a silent auction, and entertainment by Michael “Smokey” Cain. Among the evenings many highlights, was a tribute to the Honorable Gerard and Marilyn Doherty for their service and generosity to others, as well as a special tribute, to Tom Cunha, Vice-President of the Board of Directors, for his tireless commitment and dedication to the organization. Dedicated employees, former Board of Directors, staff, and political champions, including: John Gardiner, Robert O’Brien, Leo Carey, Kate McDonough, Marilyn and the Hon. Dennis J. Kearney, Hon. Robert E. Travaglini, and Jean Babcock were recognized for their contributions over the past five decades. We are honored by the support and commitment of our partners, friends, and neighbors who share the Kennedy Center’s vision and whose generosity enables us to continue to provide critical services and secure the Center’s vitality for the next 50 Years! Thank you!
