Any planned changes to Navy Yard ferry routes and T routes in Charlestown, especially the elimination of bus 92, would be a giant step backward for this neighborhood and for those men, women and children who are T riders.
If anything, this neighborhood requires more and better T service rather than less.
The T’s deficit was not our making. This neighborhood relies on the T greatly to make transportation economical and easy for our elderly, for those without automobiles and for those with automobiles who do not use them because the T satisfies their transit needs.
Public hearings will be held by the T in the respective communities and neighborhoods where plans for changes are apparently being made.
Charlestown has but two bus routes. How much exactly would be saved by eliminating one of them?
But at what cost to riders and residents here?
That’s what needs to be asked.
