Paul Toomey

Proud to be a “Townie”

Paul J. Toomey of Bridgewater, formerly of Hyde Park,  Stoughton and Charlestown, died after a brief illness. He was 82 years old.

The son of the late Frank and Celia (Bowen) Toomey, he grew up in Charlestown and was a graduate of Charlestown High School. He served in the US Army as an MP in Korea, worked for Western Electric, was a Boston Police Officer stationed in the Traffic Division, and was a court officer at the Boston Municipal Courthouse. He loved to travel, visited numerous countries and especially loved Europe and Bermuda. He was always proud of being a “townie” and was a longtime member of the Charlestown School Boys Association.

He was the loving husband of 48 years to the late Mary E. (Canney) Toomey; loving and devoted father of Donna M. Glynn and her husband, Patrick of Easton and the late Carole Berteletti and her husband, David of Stoughton; proud grandfather of Katelyn, Meghan, Kristen, and Michael; loving brother of Donald Toomey of Hingham and Fred Toomey of Quincy and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

William Connolly

Veteran of three wars

William F. Connolly (SP 6, U.S. Army Retired) of Melrose, formerly of Charlestown, died on July 25. He was 83 years old.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, he was a member of The Cronin Club.

He was the beloved companion of 31 years to Doris Sullivan of Melrose; devoted father of Rose Connolly of Everett; loving Papa to Ryan Dromgoole of Chicago, Illinois; beloved and devoted friend to all of Doris’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; favorite uncle Willy to many nieces and nephews.

Olga Pettiglio

Of Charlestown/Somerville

 Olga (Kondell) Pettiglio of Charlestown/Somerville died on July 26.

The beloved wife of the late Anthony, she was the devoted mother of Richard, Roy and his wife, Terri, Michael and his wife, Debbie, and Anthony; cherished grandmother of Lauren, Michael, Christopher, Nicole, and Nicholas; dear sister of Michael Condell and the late Harry Condell, Helen Kondell, Vasilka Lill, Chris Kondell, and Peter Kondell.

Patricia Heenan

Of Arlington, formerly of Charlestown

Patricia A. (Ahearn) Heenan of Arlington, formerly of Charlestown, died unexpectedly on July 28.

She was the beloved wife of Robert Heenan; loving mother of Cheryl Heenan and her longtime companion, Ray Taite of Arlington and Daniel Heenan and his wife, Yvonne of Boston; devoted sister of Marilyn Goggin of Charlestown, Janice Murphy of Wilmington, and the late Eleanor Cain and John Ahearn; daughter of the late John and Eleanor Ahearn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Patricia’s kindness and compassion will be greatly missed by all those who she knew and helped throughout her life.
