BRA gives Go Ahead to Major Development

The Boston Redevelopment Authority has okayed a mixed use project for a major development on Rutherford Avenue and A Street.

The Bridgeview Apartment Development is expected to be an $18 million, mixed-use housing and community center all wrapped into one.

It will comprise of 60 apartments, a daycare center and an 11,980 square foot commercial space which be run by the Charlestown Life Focus Center for people with disabilities and who are homeless.

Jack Millerick, known to nearly everyone in this neighborhood for his great work with the Life Focus Center, said the project will give his organization badly needed space.

“This is like a dream come true,” he told the Patriot-Bridge.

People whose incomes are up to 60% of the Boston’s median income will be eligible to rent one, two and three bed-room apartments I the new complex.

About 20% of the apartments will be reserved for the homeless.

Section 8 vouchers will be accepted in this new development.
