Madeline Fitzgerald Dowgos
Madeline “Linda” Fitzgerald Dowgos, 73, passed away at Seal Rock Rehabilitation in Saco, Maine on Saturday, August 19, 2017 after a long illness. She was born, one of eleven children, on October 7, 1943 the daughter of the late Mary Maguire Dowgos Peters, Joseph Dowgos and the late George G. Peters.
Linda had a wide variety of interests and talents. At one time, she was the hairdresser for the senior set in Charlestown. So loved and respected for her expertise and hospitality that they never missed their appointments. She was also very involved with the first march of the Charlestown Militia having made uniforms for many marching members while also participating in all events alongside her husband, John.
Linda was a loving wife to her husband, John, a loving mother to her three children and also a devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her children; John K. Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald and Pamela S. Fitzgerald, her four grandchildren; James Sturdevant, Laina Fitzgerald, Michael and John Uland, her brothers; Joseph Dowgos, Albert Dowgos, Robert Dowgos, George Peters, Mitchell Peters and Jeffrey Peters, her sisters; Patricia Sevler, Susan Smith and Marianne Hodgdon. She is predeceased by her husband, John “Fitzie” Fitzgerald, and her brother, Michael Peters.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 55 Warren Street Charlestown, MA on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 12pm. A reception will immediately follow at the Knights of Columbus, 545 Medford Street Charlestown, MA.
