The Charlestown High School boys basketball team honored five seniors prior to the game with New Mission last Friday evening in the school gymnasium. Freddy Oliveira, Edler Kris-Porter, Taris Wilson, Maxwell Spinola and Oliver Benner address the crowd and presented flowers to the parents/guardians attending. Also attending and honored at half time was basketball star Chabbaz Nappier. He attended Charlestown High for two years and has excelled in the game with the University of Connecticut. The Townies then went on to clash with the New Mission Titans and lost 67-65. The Townies are 9-6 and in contention for a city league play-off appearance. New Mission is 13-1.
Charlestown High Athletes take part in City League Track Championship
Always a colorful and entertaining event, the annual city league track championship took place on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 3-4) at the Reggie Lewis Track Center in Roxbury. Events on Monday included the 2 mile and 300 meter run and the 55 meter hurdle and dash. Events on Tuesday included the 1 mile run, 600 and 1000 meter run and the 4×200 and 4×400 relay run. Congratulations to all students for participating and being awarded medals and trophies at the conclusion of all the events.
