Boston Election

First, we congratulate the two nominees for mayor — Rep. Marty Walsh and City Councilor John Connolly, who were chosen on Tuesday in the primary election. We also congratulate our own Jack Kelly for making it into the top eight finalists for an at-large seat.

The campaigning by all candidates in the coming weeks will increase and voters should ask these candidates not only about their concerns, but also about the candidates’ vision for Charlestown.

With the possibility of the Wynn Casino being awarded the Greater Boston Gaming License early next year by the State Gaming Commission, Charlestown residents will be severly impacted if the development in Everett becomes a reality.  We need to know what these candidates will do if we have a casino less than a quarter of a mile from Sullivan Square.

Charlestown voters are fortunate to have a large and diverse field of candidates to choose from in the November election.

We urge all voters to become informed about the candidates and their positions. We for our part at the Patriot Bridge will continue to provide the news and report the campaigning fairly and honestly.

Every Charlestown voter should be ready to cast their ballots on November 5 with an informed and knowledgeable understanding of the issues.
