Blessing of the Animals on October 6

The seventh annual blessing of the animals will be held on Sunday,  October 6, 2013 around the fountain in the Thompson Triangle at  9:30 a.m.   This ecumenical ceremony offers an opportunity for the  clergy and Charlestown’s residents to unite to reflect upon the positive impact animals have on our emotional, physical  and spiritual well being.

The ceremony will be conducted by the Reverend Thomas Mousin of St. John’s Church, and Father James Ronan from St. Mary-St. Catherine.   The event provides a wonderful opportunity for animal owners to have their pets blessed for good health and long, happy lives.  Each animal’s owner receives a certificate stating that his/her animal was blessed and each animal is to be on a leash, in a cage or in a container.  Favorite stuffed animals or photos of a pet are also welcome.

In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church parish house at 27 Devens Street.
