J. Ruth (McLaughlin) Thornell of Charlestown died on May 6. She was 86 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick J. Thornell; beloved sister of the late John L. McLaughlin Jr.; loving aunt of Jean Burg and her husband, Edward, and their children, Eric and Caroline Burg, all of Littleton.

Esther Nazzaro

Former Co-owner of Paula’s Hair Salon in Charlestown.

Esther E. (Santino) Nazzaro of Taunton, formerly of Holbrook, died on May 4. She was 81 years old.

The former Co-owner of Paula’s Hair Salon on Bunker Hill Street in Charlestown, she was the devoted loving partner of 32 years to the late Paula J. Soucy, the beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Viola (DeLong) Santino; beloved sister of the late Dorothy Romano, John and Paul Santino, and sister-in-law of Catherine Santino of Florida and Pamela Santino of No. Carver; loving aunt of John Romano, Linda Faro, Scott Santino, Sara Santino, Kathy Santino, Toni Hammett, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Owen McCaffrey

Woburn resident

Owen J. McCaffrey died in Woburn on May 7.

He was the beloved husband of Mary V. (Viva) McCaffrey; loving father of Michael A. McCaffrey and his longtime companion, Lisa Valence of Hampstead, NH and Stephen O. McCaffrey and his wife, Stacey Lane of Charlestown; dear brother of David McCaffrey of Watertown and Jean Godfrey of Maynard; cherished grandfather of Elisha, Michael, Shannon, Owen, Matthew, and Julia Mae.

Richard Semonian

Of Billerica, formerly of Charlestown

Richard Semonian of Billerica, formerly of Charlestown, died on May 3. He was 83 years old.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he was employed by the Army Corps. of Engineers, Woburn.

He was the devoted father of Geoffrey Semonian and his wife, Ronna, of San Diego, Dane Semonian and his wife, Gail, of Pittsburgh, PA, Ronald Byrnes of Billerica, Virginia Silva and her husband, Stephen, of Tyngsboro, Judi Farmer and her husband, James, of Billerica, Richard Semonian and his wife, Ann Marie, of Hawaii and Karyn Wells and her husband, Brandon, of Tyngsboro; brother of Alyce Richardson of Woburn and her husband, the late Donald. He is also survived by 14 loving grandchildren and three great grandchildren, the uncle of John Martin of Stockbridge, GA and father-in-law of Donald Champagne of Billerica.

Richard Parker

Retired Cambridge Police Officer

Richard L. “Dick” Parker of Chesapeake, VA, formerly of Sarasota, FL, Charlestown and Wilmington died recently. He was 78 years old.

A retired Cambridge Police Officer and a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was the beloved husband of the late Rita (Donovan) Parker and devoted brother of Marilyn Collins of Virginia. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Of Saugus, formerly of Charlestown

Dorice A. (Paritzian) Hutchings of Saugus, formerly of Charlestown, died on April 29.

She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin J. Hutchings; devoted mother of Richard A. Hutchings of Florida, loving grandmother of Richard Hutchings of Salem and Brian Hutchings of Florida, sister of John Paritzian, Jr. of Florida.

Funeral arrangements were by the  John H. Sawyer Funeral Home, Charlestown. Burial was in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
