Parks Department employee Al Hanscom, a Charlestown native, sanitized the playground equipment at Doherty Park on Saturday, March 21. All playground equipment and tot lots in Boston were closed down late last week as an expanded response to the COVID-19 virus. With parks being a major spreading point in other countries for the virus, Mayor Martin Walsh moved to close them and clean them.
