Harvest on Vine Fundraiser, April 25

I stopped by Harvest on Vine earlier this week to talk about the upcoming emergency food pantry fundraiser on Thursday, April 25, starting at 630 p.m. down at the Knights. It takes lots of planning to make fundraising efforts work. This upcoming one promises to be a great one for a great cause and along the way lots of fun too with both our own Tony V. and Karson Tager.

Harvest on Vine has been providing a great service to so many among us in great need. It is nice to give back and help others. Charlestown has always been a nurturing community looking out for one another and doing what we can.

Keep the date for this upcoming fundraiser on your radar. We need everyone working together. For more information, go to [email protected].

Children’s Clothing Swap

The Charlestown Mothers Association will be hosting its first annual Children’s Clothing Swap on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Charlestown Community Center on Medford Street.

This is a free neighborhood event for Charlestown families.

Donations are required to participate, and bags will be provided too.

Expecting families are welcome too. For more information, email Emile Baker at [email protected].

First Church Egg Hunt, April, 20

When I read the headline in last week’s paper, I didn’t know if this was the First Church’s egg hunt or the first egg hunt for this church. However that doesn’t matter as long as you have kids who love egg hunts. The First Church of Charlestown is holding the egg hunt from noon to 2 pm and I hear a large Easter bunny is going to be there.

The church is located right across from the Boys & Girls Club on Green Street, and every time I think of this House of Worship, I remember that horrible fire that was almost totally destroyed back about 60 or so years ago when I was a kid. If you weren’t around theyou have no idea how this place went from ruins to a new life. Sorta like the Easter story, huh?

If Our Cars Need Tune-ups, How about Us Too?

Something new is coming to Town over at New Health Charlestown on Tuesdays from 10 until 11:15 a.m. in the Community Room. It is being called a Spiritual Tune-Up for Homeless Men and Women and anyone else in need of a good tune-up. Check it out. It can’t hurt.
