The Charlestown YMCA is holding its annual signature fundraising event, Splash Into Summer, on Thursday, June 7, from 6-9 p.m. at Courageous Sailing Pier (Pier 4) in Charlestown.
Every year, the Charlestown Y hosts this signature event to raise funds to support families and individuals in its own backyard. All funds raised from this event go directly to support the numerous Charlestown Y’s mission-driven programming and scholarships. Some of these community outreach programs include financial assistance for Teen Leadership Programs and Mentorship, free summer memberships for teens, and swim lessons, a lifesaving skill for children.
The funds raised also support the Dennis McLaughlin House Program housed at the Y’s Constitution Inn. This program is a 10-bed emergency transitional shelter which supports single Mothers in recovery and their children. Additionally, the Inn houses a Y run program for families traveling from all over to receive burn and medical care at the Shriner’s Hospital in Boston.
Please join the YMCA Staff and Board of Advisors for this fun community event and to learn more about these community-based programs. The festivities include oysters from the MA Oyster Project, Legal’s chowder, flatbread pizzas and salad, tasty homemade Italian appetizers from the North End, an open bar, music, games, and a silent auction.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at http://ymcaboston.org/charlestown or by calling Andrea Wilk, executive director of the Y, at 617-286-1210 or [email protected].
