LADY ROCKETS ARE IN!!!
In her first season as the Reading HS girls hockey coach, Alexa Hingston helped lead the Lady Rockets (8-8-3) into the MIAA Division 1 tourney. In what has been a roller coaster campaign, Alexa, Assistant Coach Catherine Taglilatela, and fleet-footed wing Abbie Collins give the team a notable “Townie” flair. Next ahead, however, is an enormous challenge as #4 seed Methuen/Tewksbury (17-1-2) will host the Lady Rockets on Wednesday at 5 PM at the Methuen Rink. A mighty late-season surge propelled Reading into qualifying for the tourney and they are playing their best hockey of the season. TOWNIE SPORTS predicts that this tilt will go down to the wire.

Annual McGonagle/McGoff Tourney set for this weekend
The Charlestown Youth Hockey Association will host their annual McGonagle & McGoff Memorial Hockey Tournament on Friday, March 2, Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4 at the DCR rink in Charlestown.
This tournament is held annually in honor of Bryan McGonagle, a Charlestown youth hockey player who lost his life at a very young age, and Danny McGoff, a past CYHA president and dedicated coach who also left us too soon.
Both families have been great supporters of Charlestown Youth Hockey, and we are very proud to have this tournament in their honor.
This year’s teams will include:
- Mite A: Charlestown, Brookline, Needham, Newton.
- U10 Girls: Charlestown, Needham, Lady Crusaders, Lady Flames.
- Squirt A: Charlestown, Arlington, Dorchester, Winchester.
Games will begin on Friday evening and will continue through the weekend. There will be many raffles and great prizes throughout the event.
The community is invited to come down to the rink to support Charlestown Youth Hockey and enjoy some great girls and boys hockey action.
