PERFECTION!!!

Congratulations to Melrose assistant coach Jim Kent as the Red Raiders (13-0) captured their first-ever Division 4 Super Bowl with a 21-0 dismantling of Nashoba (9-2) at Gillette Stadium.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS (again) !!!

Congrats to Everett assistant coach Joe McLaughlin and senior center/linebacker Jonte Joseph (an alum of the Charlestown Youth Football program) on yet another Division 1 Super Bowl title. The Crimson Tide (12-0) truly are the best team in the state after shellacking Xaverian by a score of 35-10 in Gillette Stadium Saturday.

LITTLE LEAGUE   WINTER CLINICS

Charlestown Little League began its first winter clinics of the year starting this week on Monday, December 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the community center on Medford st. Pitching, catching, fielding, and hitting will be covered over the course of these clinics.
Future clinics will be on Dec. 18, Jan. 8 and 22. The will take place at the Community Center on Medford St., 6-8 p.m.

 

This will be a relaxed and fun way to keep up our baseball skills and interest over the winter.

 

2017 COLLEGE SPORTS

 

•SWIMMING
At the GNAC Championships held at Simmons College, Elms senior Aislinn Carrier was part of the 400 Medley Relay that finished sixth, and she also placed 12th in the 200 Freestyle.

 

•Hockey

 

Assumption wing Tommy Mahoney notched an assist and rifled four shots on net in the Greyhounds 4-2 victory over St. Michael…Salem St. wing Danielle Kelley scored a goal and Rose Sullivan added two shots on net as the Vikings grabbed their first win of the season, a 5-2 smackdown of Plymouth State…Merrimack defenseman Aaron Titcomb bombed two shots on net in the Warriors 3-1 setback to Northeastern…Maine wing Nolan Vesey blasted five shots on net in the Black Bears 2-2 tie with Vermont. In a rematch the next night, Vesey slammed home two goals in a 6-2 bludgeoning of the Catamounts.

 

Vesey also scored a goal and blasted three shots on net in the Black Bears 4-2 triumph over RPI…Army wing Trevor Fidler notched a goal and three shots on net, but it wasn’t enough as the Cadets suffered a 4-3 setback to Canisius…Salem State sophomore wing Rose Sullivan walloped two shots on net in the Vikings 1-0 loss to UNE…UMass-Dartmouth sophomore wing Patrick Wrenn tallied an assist in the Corsairs 6-4 defeat to Western NE…Assumption wing Tommy Mahoney pitched in with a goal and an assist as the Greyhounds toppled St. Anselm to the tune of 5-2.

 

•EHL/ECHL UPDATE

 

Walpole wing Will Ahearn tallied a goal in the Express 4-1 triumph over the Boston Rangers…Manchester wing Mike Doherty tallied a goal and an assist in the Monarchs 8-3 pummeling of the Utah Grizzlies…Jacksonville wing Brendan Collier laser-beamed a goal in the Icemen 6-4 conquest of the Orlando Solar Bears.
