The winning ticket was drawn at the Charlestown Co-Operative Bank by Tom Coots, President of the Bank on Saturday September . We would like to thank the Charlestown Schoolgirls Association for their scholarship which is helping us to continue our studies at Westfield St. University. We are honored to have received such generosity from an organization that gives so much back to the “Townie” community.

Dear Editor:
As many of you may have heard, I have accepted a new position as Chief of the Portsmouth, Rhode Island Police Department. I will miss working with all of you and serving as Captain for the Downtown and Charlestown neighborhoods. It’s been a great experience and I’ve really appreciated the assistance of all my neighborhood partners in keeping the community safe. I was presented with an opportunity for a new challenge in a new community and it seemed like a good fit for me and my family. The A-1 and A-15 total part I crime rate is down 10% and I’m leaving a very competent staff in place to continue our community policing program. I will miss all of you. It’s been an honor to serve as your Captain.

Thank you for scholarship
Dear Editor:
I would like to thank the Old Schoolgirls Association for the scholarship that I received at this year’s annual Schoolgirls dinner.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend the dinner and receive the scholarship in person due to the fact that I am away at school. I am extremely grateful to the Old Schoolgirls Committee for recognizing me and am extremely honored to have received this scholarship.
