The Charlestown Mother’s Association (CMA) is pleased to announce this year’s CMA scholarship winners.  This year, the applicant pool was our strongest ever, and the scholarship committee found it challenging to select from so many talented applicants.  In the end, we decided this year to award a total of five college scholarships to Charlestown residents.  First place was awarded to Erin McLaughlin, who will receive a $2,500 scholarship to Curry College.  We also awarded three $1,000 second place winners:  Caitlin Kelly, Sijing Lei and Taylor Mahoney, and awarded $500 to our third place winner, Leisa Loan.  Please join us in congratulating these recipients and their families for their success.  We wish them all well as they progress through their academic careers!

In addition to these college scholarships, CMA has also made several camp scholarships available to campers at the Charlestown Community Center and Girl Scout camps.  CMA has also continued its tradition of sponsoring campers to Agassiz Village by making a $1,600 contribution.  Agassiz Village is an overnight camp in Poland, Maine, which provides programs for children from racially, economically and socially diverse backgrounds.  CMA’s donation will pay for 8 Charlestown residents to go to overnight camp for a week.  In aggregate, we allocated $3,550 in camp scholarship awards this year.

Thank you so much to the Charlestown community for enabling us to award a total of $9,550 in scholarships this year!  Please join us in congratulating all our recipients! From the CMA Board Members and Scholarship Committee Members: CMA co-Presidents Leigh Hurd and Rebecca Love, Alison Bennett, Laura Carroll, Kristen Flores, Becky King, Ginny Mansfield, Sarah Newlin, Jane Reitz, Jennifer Rossi and Lynne Soutter.
