Meet Lily the Dragon A local mom turns bedtime stories into a new children’s book

There’s a new little dragon in town—and she has a big lesson to share.

Charlestown mom of two, Rosanne Demas, is excited to announce the September 14 release of her first children’s book, Lily the Dragon and the Spooky Lake.

The story began at home, where Demas often makes up short stories to entertain her children. One story about a tall, purple dragon stuck with her. She liked it so much that she began playing with the characters and words, eventually turning that little tale into a published book.

In The Spooky Lake, Lily faces something that makes her nervous: a mysterious lake near her home. Along the way, she discovers that taking deep breaths and using kind words can help calm her body and mind, giving her the courage to face her fear.

Social-emotional growth is important to Demas, and she hopes Lily’s stories will give children simple tools they can use in their own lives. Each book in the planned Lily the Dragon series will include an easy-to-remember mantra that children can carry with them beyond the pages of the story.

The book will be available in paperback on Amazon beginning September 14. Hardcover copies are available directly from Demas by emailing [email protected].

Follow Lily’s adventures and get updates on future books and local events on Instagram at @lilythedragonbooks. Be on the lookout for upcoming local storytimes and book readings!

Demas hopes Lily the Dragon and the Spooky Lake will become a favorite for little readers and remind them that even when something feels scary, they can find the courage to keep going.
