William Robert “Elmo” Lane

William Robert “Elmo” Lane, 76, of Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, with his family by his side.
Born in Boston on March 10, 1949, to the late Charles and Margaret (McDonald) Lane, William was raised in Charlestown and later attended Bunker Hill Community College. He dedicated decades of service as a Maintenance Supervisor for the United States Postal Service in Boston before retiring. A proud United States Air Force Veteran, he honorably served during the Vietnam War.
William had a deep love for the water and could often be found boating on the pond near his home with his beloved wife, Ruth. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and caring for his dogs, who brought him great joy.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Margaret Lane, and his daughter, Mary Ann Fiaschetti. William was the devoted husband of Ruth (Haley) Lane of Plymouth; the loving father of Ruth Leitch and her husband, Glenn Moore of Whitman, Vivian “Marie” Lane of Alabama, and the late Mary Ann Fiaschetti and her husband,Tony. He was the cherished grandfather of Jacquelyn Lane, Allison and Christopher Leitch, Haley and Joey Fiaschetti, and Paisley Lane; and the proud great-grandfather of Allie Briggs. He was the brother of Beverly Lane Wilson and her late husband, Eddie of Tewksbury, and the late Charlie Lane. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
William will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 12:45 pm.
