Kitchen Kup founder Joe Brennan announced that the annual roller hockey summer spectacular will take place the first week of August once again, rolling out (no pun intended) on Aug. 4 and 5 in Eden Street Park – a/k/a/ The Kitchen.

The competition is expected to be intense once again and the teams are getting their wheels ready to roll.

  • 12’s knocked out of Mayor’s Cup
    The team had a great rally in the bottom of the sixth on July 21, but ended up falling to the North End, 8-5. Great effort boys.
  • 11 year old Mayor’s Cup semifinals
    At 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, Charlestown will play Parkway 1 at Praught Field (Parkway LL, West Roxbury). Finals are immediately after.



Charlestown has entered a team in the Boston Citywide Baseball league, which plays in South Boston at Moakley Field most weeknights at 5:45 p.m., now through mid-August. Charlestown’s team is comprised mostly of District all stars (12-year and 10-year-old team members). They have started off with two wins, the first one vs South Boston (8-1) and next vs Allston-Brighton (13-3). Other teams include the North End, ADSL, and Dorchester. Here are the current standings and the rest of the schedule (barring rainouts):

Another year of junior roller hockey is here and the Cookie Jar Junior Roller Hockey Tourney is coming on July 28. The kids had a great time last year and this is becoming a great summer tradition in Charlestown. Spread the word and plan for a great weekend. Players 17 and under will be broken down into their respective divisions depending on how many teams sign up.
