AN EXTRAORDINARY EVENT IN BOSTON

Dear Editor:

Last week I was privileged to witness an extraordinary event:  the Boston gathering of hundreds of students and youth marching to the State House was an inspiring experience. These young people are stepping forward and using their voices to begin a dialogue on making a better and safer future for all of us.

This coming Saturday, March 24, at noon on the Boston Common there will be “The March for Our Lives“. The purpose is to come together and reaffirm our commitment to restore a sense of safety and peace in these challenging times. This is happening due to the Parkland High School massacre in Florida. The students from Parkland High have taken on this cause and are working diligently to make a difference.

With this in mind, we are asking folks in Charlestown to consider attending this event. A number of us will be meeting at 11:45 a.m. at The Make Way for Ducklings Statue in the Public Garden, a five minute walk from the Arlington Street MBTA station. Our purpose is to recognize and thank the Parkland High Students for their unwavering and strong leadership. They truly are the leaders for the change that needs to happen.

As neighbors please attend the March and witness the energy and enthusiasm of our youth. They need our help and more importantly, our support.
