A POINT FOR ST. PATRICK
Freshman midfielder Hughie O’Donnell notched an assist in Nichols 16-7 setback to Berry. In his wearing of the Bison green, O’Donnell also recovered four ground balls and forced four turnovers.
SO CLOSE YET…
Both Malden Catholic’s senior wing Cameron Delvalle and BC High’s sophomore wing Matt Lakus saw their Super 8 hockey story end in excruciating fashion with semi-final round overtime defeats. The Lancers fell victim to Arlington in double-overtime by a score of 3-2 and the Eagles were unable to put the puck in the net in a 1-0 setback to Central Catholic. While Lakus will have two more cracks at obtaining a ring, Delvalle can take solace in last season’s Super 8 title at Malden Catholic. Both were great ambassadors in continuing the “Townie” hockey legacy. Thanks for the memories guys…
WAMPS VIE FOR TITLE
Charlestown Townies football icon “Nippy” Nolan’s granddaughter contend for the State title in Springfield last Saturday, but came up short. Braintree sophomore standout Adriana Timberlake and the Wamps (20-4) battled Springfield Central (20-3) for the Division 1 Girls Basketball State Championship. The Wamps gave it their all, but lost to Springfield Central 61-45.
