Mary ‘Mae’ Looney

Lifelong resident of Charlestown

Mary E. “Mae” (Sullivan) Looney, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 5 at the Courtyard Nursing Home in Medford. She was 73 years old.

Mae was born in Boston on December 15, 1942, a daughter of the late James P. Sullivan and Margaret (Curtis) Sullivan. She grew up in Charlestown, attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial school and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1961. Following high school, Mae worked as an operator for the telephone company for several years.

The beloved wife of the late Peter P. Looney, she was the devoted mother of Peter P. Looney and his wife, Diane and Michelle O’Leary and her husband, Thomas, all of Marshfield; the loving Nana Mae to Brendan, Molly, and Nolan Looney, and Brook and Meadow O’Leary. She was the beloved sister of James Sullivan and his wife, Eileen of Billerica, Janis Kiely of Charlestown, and Margaret Godfrey of Charlestown. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Mae was the dear friend of Judy Evers.

Funeral arrangements were by The Carr Funeral Home, Charlestown. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Mae’s name to C.H.A.D., P.O. Box 290035, Charlestown, MA 02129
