Boston Police Runners Club Run Boston Marathon in Memory of Ryan Morrissey: On Friday, April 17, Commissioner William Evans, members of the Boston Police Runners Club, representatives from the Boys & Girls Club of Charlestown, representatives from Operation Progress Boston and family and friends of Ryan Morrissey gathered at the Charlestown Boys & Girls Club to honor and remember Ryan Morrissey by announcing the creation of a scholarship in his name. On November 5, 2014, Morrissey, 17, was shot and killed outside a Charlestown convenience store. Authorities later learned that Morrissey was mistakenly targeted by suspects that incorrectly identified him for someone else. Less than a year after the senseless murder, the Boys & Girls Club of Charlestown, Operation Progress Boston and Boston Police Runners Club joined together to honor a young man who deserved better. Scholarships were presented to two  upstanding members of the Charlestown  Boys & Girls Club who have  displayed an ability and desire to be difference-makers in their community. The Boston Police Runners Club presented a $50,000 check to Operation Progress Boston for scholarships to be presented in memory of  Ryan  Morrissey.
