Library Calendar to Feature Famous Charlestown Residents

The calendar produced by the Friends of the Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library is now available in several locations in town.

This year’s calendar is available for sale in our branch library,  The Joy of Old on Main Street, Ace Hardware in the Shopping Center and Bunker Hill Souvenirs on the Training Field.

The famous residents of Charlestown featured on the calendar are:

Loammi Baldwin, Jr., Thomas Bell, William Carleton, Charlotte Cushman, Charles Devens, Samuel Dexter, Moses Dow, Edward Everett, Nathaniel Gorham, Issac Hull, Samuel F. B. Morse, John Boyle O’Reilly and Charles Tufts.

The research and the writing were both contributed by former resident Carl Zellner, the historian of the Charlestown Historical Society.  Charlestown’s history is long and exciting and this calendar reflects the the history and accomplishments of these residents.

All proceeds from the sale of the calendars is used for programs for the children and adults in our community.  The calendars make nice presents and cost only $5.
