Herbert E. Thompson of Medford, formerly of Charlestown, died on December 16.

The beloved husband of the late Hazel (Blood) Thompson, he was the devoted father of Herbert J. Thompson and Janet T. Gannon and a loving grandfather and father-in-law. Services were private.

Mary Griffis

Hospital Volunteer

Mary C. (McNamee) Griffis of Everett, formerly of Charlestown, died on December 14. She was 69 years old.

A volunteer at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital “She made the program.”

She was the beloved wife of 48 years to Phillip Griffis, devoted mother of Patrick Griffis of Cambridge and Patricia Griffis of Everett; beloved sister of Margaret “Peggy” Loftin of Tewksbury, Henry “Buzz” McNamee of Peabody, Eileen Nye of Everett and John McNamee of Tewksbury and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Frank H. Carr Funeral Home, Charlestown. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours Monday 4 – 8 pm. in the funeral home. Patricia ‘Pat’ Power

Of Newburyport, formerly of Charlestown

Patricia A. “Pat” (Ellgner) Power of Newburyport, formerly of Charlestown, died on December 14. She was 73 years old.

She was the devoted mother of Donna Dacey of Charlestown, Charles Power of Seabrook, N.H., Bobby Power of Everett, Joey Power of Somersworth, N.H., Anthony Power of Revere and Tina Gillen of Somersworth, N.H.; loving Nana Pat to 12 grandchildren and to four great-grandchildren; beloved sister of Kay Coughlin of Florida and the late Peggy Galipeau. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 22, at 10 am. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown. Burial will be private. Warren McLea

Civil Engineer and  Left Handed Pitcher for the Milwaukee Braves

Warren D. McLea  of East Boston, formerly of Charlestown and Wellesley, died on December 13.

A past member of the Skating Club of Boston and the Jeffries Point Yacht Club, he was a graduate of Northeastern University. Mr. McLea was a gymnastic, baseball and hockey player and a left handed pitcher for the Milwaukee Braves. He was a Civil Engineer living in Brazil for four years and Kuwait for two and he last worked on the Big Dig

He was the beloved husband of Ann G. ( Green) McLea;  devoted father of Glenn McLea and his wife, Daniela of Tennessee,Susan McCarthy and her husband, Michael of Bridgewater, Carolyn Hollingsworth of California. John Houlihan

Of Charlestown

John E. Houlihan of Charlestown died suddenly on December 11. He was 81 years old.

A member of the Old Charlestown School Boys Association, he was the beloved husband of the late Florence C. “Flossie” (Coffey) Houlihan; the loving father of Ann Marie Houlihan of Saugus, John Houlihan and his wife, Ellen, Joseph Houlihan and his wife, Jean all of Charlestown and James Houlihan and his wife, Alice of Nahant; loving grandfather of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the beloved brother of Marion Simpson and Lucy Gibbon, both of Charlestown and the late Rose Newton, Bridget Thornton, Peter, Edward and James Houlihan and the loving uncle of Christine Ostrander of Kentucky and many other nieces and nephews.

Cono’Tony’ Donnaruma

Retired USDA Inspector

Cono A. “Tony” Donnaruma, a longtime resident of Everett, died at home on December 12. He was 84 years old.

A US Coast Guard veteran, he was a retired Federal Inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture where he worked for 30 years.

He was the beloved husband of the late Marie F. (Barresi); dear and devoted father of Karen A. Haskell of Everett and the late Kim Donnaruma; brother of Gerald of Charlestown, Carmen of Melrose, Rosanna Shea of Revere and the late Eva and Frances. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Burial was in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, contibutions in his memory to the charity of one’s choice  would be sincerely appreciated.
