Paul Smith

Of Reading, formerly of Charlestown

Paul F. Smith of Reading, formerly of Charlestown, died on June 20.

He was the beloved husband of Alice G. (Swales) Smith; devoted father of Joann Smith of Charlestown, Paul F. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Wilma of Lynn, Wayne Smith and his wife, Catherine of Oregon and Karen Doran and her husband, Joseph of Pennsylvania; brother of James R. Smith Jr. of Reading, Beverly Foley of Weymouth and the late Frederick Smith. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were by the John H. Sawyer Funeral Home, Charlestown. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Rd., 2nd flr, Princeton, NJ or to donate online

Barbara Mara

Charlestown Resident

Barbara M. (Driscoll) Mara of Charlestown, formerly of Hyde Park and West Roxbury, died on June 20.

She was the devoted mother of Michael Mara of Sturbridge, Helen Nicotera of Canton, Susan Hileman of Woburn, Timothy Mara of Haverhill, Paul Mara of Woburn and Karen Mara of Norwich, CT and is also survived by 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Michael, Joseph and Richard Driscoll and Helen Tesser.

Funeral arrangements were by the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, Dedham. Burial was private.

Joseph Pierce

Of Florida, formerly of Charlestown

Joseph L. Pierce of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Charlestown, died on May 6.

He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Mary Ann Pierce; loving father of Virginia Caplis, William Pierce, Kerry Mango and Melinda Pierce and is also survived by seven loving grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Memorial Service was held at the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, c/o St. Christopher Church, 12001 S.E. Federal Highway, Hobe Sound, FL, 33455. Burial was private.
