Man Dies in Bunker Hill Project Shooting

A man has died following a shooting in the Bunker Hill Street projects.

It is the first and only homicide in this neighborhood this year.

Boston Police reported finding the man who had been shot twice in the head beneath a flagpole in the Charlestown Bunker Hill Street projects at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday.

The man was bleeding profusely and was carrying no identification according to police, who made a thorough search of the area.

The man was apparently walking from inside the projects toward Bunker Hill Street when he was shot by an unknown assailant.

According to Boston Police, the gunshots caused a severe head wound but that the victim was able to move his hands and fingers when EMT’s arrived at the scene.

A small group of onlookers gathered around the wounded man while he was being treated before being rushed to the Massachusetts General Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Police said none of those gazing at the result of the gun violence said they had witnessed the shooting.

Police said without a witness it was too early to speculate on a motive. Police are making efforts to identify the victim.
