Katherine Kennedy

Mass. Department of Revenue retiree

Katherine P. Kennedy of Charlestown died on June 10.

She was 82 years old.

A retired Clerk for the Commonwealth of Mass Department of Revenue, she was the beloved daughter of the late Theresa (Monagle) and James Kennedy and the devoted sister of the late John T. and Paul L. Kennedy.

Priscilla Flaherty-McGrath

Charlestown resident

Priscilla (Ryan) Flaherty-McGrath of Charlestown died on June 9. She was 84 years old.

She was the beloved and devoted partner of the late Edward Lynch; devoted mother of Harry McGrath of Charlestown, James McGrath of South Carolina and the late Deborah Eatherton, Edward, Richard, Steven, Tommy and Mark McGrath; loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren.

Linda Autobee

Charlestown resident

Linda S. Autobee of Charlestown died on June 5.

The beloved daughter of Evelyn (Manson) and the late Joseph Autobee, she was the devoted sister of Donna and Valerie Autobee, both of Charlestown; loving aunt of Justin Autobee of Charlestown and is also missed by Georgie.

Dean ‘Bunko’ Smith

Retired BPD Detective

Dean R. “Bunko” Smith of South Weymouth, a retired Boston Police Department Detective, died by accident on June 7.

He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Detective’s Benevolent Society and the Boston Police Relief Association.

He was the beloved husband of Veronica C. (McLaughlin); devoted father of Dorothy Smith of Hudson, MA; loving grandfather of Martin, Maura, Dorothy, Erin, Maggie and Christopher Fuller.

Francis ‘Frank’ Gibbons

Of West Roxbury, formerly of Charlestown

Francis “Frank” Gibbons of West Roxbury, formerly of Charlestown, died on June 7.

A graduate of Boston Latin School and Northeastern University as well as a veteran of the Vietnam era, he was the devoted father of Erin Marie Gibbons whom he loved and cherished every moment of his life; son of the late Mary (Doherty) and Daniel Gibbons; brother of Virginia Zaleskas of West Roxbury, Janice Lewis of Andover, Ann Gibbons and John Gibbons of West Roxbury and Donald Gibbons of Charlestown; step-father of Justin Moynihan; beloved uncle of Kara and Donna Zaleskas and several other nieces and nephews.

Ingeborg Elsa Liias

Foster Mother of 38 Children

Ingeborg Elsa Liias died June 7 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was 85 years old.

Born in Plauen In Vogtland, Germany on August 13, 1925, she emigrated to the United States in 1951 with her late husband, Arnold, and lived first in Charlestown  moving to Woburn in 1973 and finally to Brooksby Village in Peabody where she lived for the last seven years of her life. In Charlestown, OMA (as she was known to her family) was a foster mother for many years having cared for 38 children.

She is survived by her four children: Rev. Jurgen Liias of Melrose, Dr. Raimo Liias of Sudbury, Karin Liias Goldstein of Lynnfield, and Leopold Liias of Peabody, along with nine loving grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Her Funeral Service was held at Christ the Redeemer Church, Danvers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Bread of Life Program, 511 Main St., Malden, MA 02148. Patricia Rooney

Former school secretary and former clerk

at Constitution Navy Yard Museum

Patricia A. (Hayes) Rooney of Charlestown died on June 7.  She was 73 years old.

She was a former secretary at the Edwards Junior High School and the Harvard/Kent School and a former Clerk at The Constitution Navy Yard Museum.

The beloved wife of 53 years of Robert F. Rooney, she was the devoted mother of Patricia Pesaturo and her husband, James, of Malden, Bobby Rooney and his wife, Ani, of California, Gerry Rooney and his wife, Beth, Eileen Rooney and her wife, Leah Blackstone, all of Charlestown; loving grandmother of Anthony, Daniel, Sarah, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Rachel, Hannah, Gerard Jr., Terrell and Benjamin; beloved sister of Charles Hayes and his wife, Mary Lou, of Charlestown and the late Mary Ellen Martin.

John Seward

Member of Several Organizations

John J. “Jack” Seward of Woburn, formerly of Charlestown, died suddenly on June 5. He was 62 years old.

A member of U.F.C.W. Local 1445, 520 Club and the Old Charlestown Schoolboy’s Association, he was the devoted and loving husband of four years to Nancy M. (McLaughlin-McCaffrey) Seward; beloved father of Kelly Seward and Erin Stern, both of Florida, Meghan Donovan of Charlestown and special friend of Kevin McCaffrey of Watertown; loving Papa Jack to Tuesday, Emma, Hanna, Kyleigh, Liam and Delaney; beloved brother of Karen Seward and her husband, Jerry Muller, of Hudson, N.H., Lorraine Creamer of Fitchburg, Kevin and Richard Seward, both of Charlestown, and the late Bobby Seward. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
