Abutter’s meeting

The Charlestown Neighborhood Council (CNC) Development Committee and the City of Boston will hold an abutter’s meeting to discuss the proposed nine-unit residential building on Sawyer’s Lot, 324-330 Bunker Hill St. The proposal will include a new drainage system and parking below the building. The meeting will take place on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. in the St. Francis de Sales Lower Hall, 303 Bunker Hill St.

“E”Inc’s Third Thursdays 

Children ages 5 to 7 are invited to come explore a new topic each month with hands-on science activities, games, art activities, story time, and more at “e” inc.’s Science emporium.

On April 18 from 6pm – 7:30 p.m. the topic will be Volcanos.  Space is limited to please register online at https://www.einc-action.org. $5 registration fee covers activities, art projects, and a snack.

the “e” inc. science emporium is located at 114 16th. street, room 1030 in the Charlestown Navy Yard. There is 2-hour free parking on Medford St.

Free Paper Shredding event at Bunker Hill Mall!

Charlestown’s EF Financial invites you to a free shredding event on April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at Whole Foods Market/Bunker Hill Mall.  Celebrate Earth Day by properly disposing of old, unneeded documents. Bring sensitive and confidential paper-based materials for shredding and recycling (no need to remove clips or staples!). Charlestown & Beyond celebrates Charlestown

 Special guests Jack and Marie Alves will join host Kathy “Cookie” Giordano to talk about ‘growing up in Charlestown’ on Thursday, April 18th at 6:30 p.m.  Jack and Marie have been, and remain, involved in many aspects of Charlestown life for over 70 years. Their recollections will both steer up your personal memories and add little known background information on many of the 20th centuries events.  You won’t want to miss this wonderful couple’s interview.

2019 / 2020 Registration for Gym Hockey

Registration for the 2019/2020 season is being held on Saturday – May 11th 2019 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mishawum Community Room,

95 Dunstable Street, Charlestown, MA.  There is a registration fee which is not due until September when the season begins. Ages are : 4 years old by October 1, 2019 to 9 years old (anyone who turns 10 years old before 2/1/20 is too old. You do not have to live in Charlestown to play.

Harvest on Vine Food Pantry

This week the Harvest on Vine Food Pantry is requesting macaroni and cheese and cans of pineapples. Any donation of non-perishable foods that you could make would also be greatly appreciated.

Donations can be dropped off at the Food Pantry at 49 Vine St. (Hayes Square), The Cooperative Bank at 201 Main St. and at the Parish Center on 46 Winthrop St. (across from the Training Field).  Financial donations can be sent to: Harvest on Vine, Parish Center, 46 Winthrop St., Charlestown, MA 02129. Food Pantry to Distribute Ham Dinners

The Harvest on Vine Food Pantry will be giving out ham dinners on Tuesday, April 30th.  Pre-registration to receive a dinner is necessary and will take place Monday through Wednesday, April 22 through 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pantry’s office at 49 Vine Street.  For more information contact Tom MacDonald, director, at 617-990-7314.

Charlestown Neighborhood Council Meeting

The CNC Development Committee will be hosting a meeting for review of the proposed development plans for 324 – 330 Bunker Hill Street (Sawyer’s parking lot) in conjunction with an Abutter’s meeting facilitated by Quinlan Locke, Charlestown Liason to the Mayor’s Office.

This meeting will be on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. at Saint Francis de Sales – Lower Hall 303 Bunker Hill St.,

CMA Scholarship Applications are available

The Charlestown Mothers Association is pleased to offer up to $15,000 in college scholarships, to men and women who have been residents of Charlestown for at least five years, and will be attending college full-time this fall.  The amount of each scholarship awarded will be determined by the CMA Scholarship Committee.  Copies of the application are available at the “Scholarship” tab on the CMA website, www.charlestownmothersassociation.org, and also at the Charlestown Branch Library, at the circulation desk.  The completed application is due by April 30, 2019.

Harvard-Kent Spring Fundraiser

The Harvard-Kent Parents Association Spring Fundraiser will be held on Friday, May 3, from 5-7 p.m. at The Warren Tavern.  $20 suggested donation at the door and $10 raffle tickets will be sold at the door.  Thank you to the Warren Tavern for donating the space and appetizers.  For more information please email [email protected].

Turn it Around Basketball Tournament – seeking Players and Sponsors

The 5th Annual Turn it Around Basketball Tournament is set for Saturday, May 4, from 1 0a.m.to 4 p.m. at the Charlestown Community Center. Harvest on Vine Annual Fundraiser April 25

This year’s annual fundraiser for Harvest on Vine food pantry will take place on Thursday, April 25, at the Knights of Columbus #62 on Medford St. Tony V. And Karson Tager will entertain, food catered by Boston Beer Works. There will be great raffle prizes and a LIVE auction as well. First Church Egg Hunt April 20

On Saturday, April 20, hop on over to the First Church in Charlestown at 10 Green Street for their annual Easter egg hunt and more. The event will run from 12-2 p.m. and will include a visit from the Easter bunny, a petting zoo, free raffle for great prizes and more. All are welcome.

A Fun Day of Swapping and Shopping is Ahead: The Charlestown Children’s Clothing Swap

The Charlestown Mothers Association and The Charlestown Community Center have partnered to create the first Charlestown Children’s Clothing Swap! It will be held at The Charlestown Community Center at 255 Medford St. from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday April 27. Bring your clean, gently worn items to the Community Center between 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and place your items on pre-marked tables that will be separated by category and size.  This event is free and open to all Charlestown Residents; you do not have to be a CMA member. Bags will be provided to the first 100 people; so get there early! Expecting families are also welcome! Left over items will be donated to local community organizations.
