  • Congrats to Pope John XXIII football head coach Craig Connors and assistant coaches Paul Blaikie, Nick Codair and Joe Codair on the Tigers 36-22 triumph over Madison Park. With the team returning all but two seniors next season, hope springs eternal for continued improvement…Kudos to Charlestown head coach Dave Cahill and local players Steve Williams, Kivans Seide, Kewan Paul, Terrell McQueeney, Melvin Jones, Juan Basabe-Muniz and Schnider Germilus for what has been a highly entertaining season at Firefighter’s Field. Townie football is relevant again in the Boston City League…Nice to see Winchester senior QB Liam Fitzpatrick back in action after suffering a severe ACL strain in the second game of the season…Good luck to Arlington Catholic senior tight-end Luke von Hunnius who will have his hands full in a Division 6 North semi-final matchup with undefeated Hamilton-Wenham this Saturday…Same goes for Everett senior linebacker Jonte Joseph and assistant coach Joe McLaughlin as the powerhouse Crimson Tide take on unbeaten Lexington this Friday in a Division 1 North semi-final tilt…Melrose assistant coach Jim Kent looks for the Red Raiders to keep marching to the Division 4 North title game in what promises to be a hard-fought skirmish with North Reading…Since being moved to the QB position for the last three games, all Bridgton Academy freshman Eddie Sullivan has done is tally 123 points and three one-sided wins.

 

SWIMMING

Elms senior Aislinn Carrier tallied a second place in the 200-Medley Relay, third in the 200-Freestyle, first in the 100-Freestyle and first in the 100-Breaststroke as the Blazers toppled Gordon by a score of 106-97…In a one-sided loss to Simmons, Carrier added a third place in the 200-Medley Relay, fourth in the 200-Freestyle, fourth in the 100-Freestyle and fourth in the 100-Breaststroke.

 

SOCCER

UMass sophomore midfielder Christian Labeck laser-beamed a shot on goal as the Minutemen waylaid George Mason by a score of 4-1.

In EHL action, Walpole Express wing Will Ahearn notched his fourth goal of the year during a 6-2 victory over the New England Wolves… Merrimack senior defenseman Aaron Titcomb blasted two shots on net and blocked 4 shots during the Warriors 5-5 tie with #9-ranked Minn.-Duluth…Maine senior wing Nolan Vesey tallied 4 shots on net in the Black Bears 7-5 loss to Miami (OH)…UMass-Dartmouth sophomore Patrick Wrenn blasted two shots on net in the Corsairs 5-1 setback to Curry…Army junior wing Trevor Fidler poured three shots on net in the Cadets 3-1 loss to RIT.
