Letters to the Editor

Quite A Year

 Dear Editor:

It’s Been Quite a year for my good friend,Grand Marshall Robert Beckwith. Bob had two children Tom and Valerie each walk down the aisle. A third child,Carolyn, gave birth to Grandson Robbie. He and his wife Carol and another Daughter Lauren welcomed their first Grandchild and Nephew home! Becky was then chosen to be this years Grand Marshall of the Bunker Hill Parade,a tremendous honor and well deserved! His service to our country,U.S.Army, and our state,Fireman then joined the State Police, is truly commendable. In addition Robert has been selected by the American Football Association,to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame on June 22. His accomplishments on the gridiron resulted in many a championship for the Charlestown Townies! As many of you know it was a source of pride for decades. All of Charlestown should be proud of this native son. It truly has been quite a year.

YMCA fundraiser is June 1

Dear Editor

As most of you know, this is my third year serving on the Charlestown YMCA Board of Advisors. I am very proud of the community outreach work of the Y. The Charlestown Y houses/runs a shelter for women in recovery with children, a program in partnership with Boston’s Shriners Hospital for Children, a growing Teen Program in collaboration with the city’s efforts to decrease the opioid crisis, teen empowerment programs, swim lesson programs in collaboration with Courageous Sailing, and healthy living family programs where all are welcome regardless of age, income and/or background. These programs make our community stronger and more connected.

Please join us on Thursday, June 1, at Courageous Sailing/Pier 4, 6-9 p.m., for our annual flagship fundraiser in support of this work. The details and ticket links are attached. If you are unable to attend, you can support the Y by purchasing a ticket and/or making a donation. Thank you for helping to make our community stronger together!
