The John Harvard Mall and park are about to undergo a major renovation by the City, and through an initiative by the Friends of the John Harvard Mall, the budget for that renovation has increased from $450,000 to $1.5 million. That will enable a full scale renovation of the upper and lower areas. However, the Friends have to raise $56,000 for LED lighting ($24,000), irrigation
($12,000) and historical monument plaques ($20,000). The group is closing in on its goal of $56,000, but more is necessary.
“Even if we surpass our immediate target, we need more funding for annual maintenance of the irrigation system as well as maintenance and improvements
beyond what the city offers,” read a communication from the Friends this week. “Our goal is to ensure that the beautification of the park is sustainable
well beyond the renovation phase.”
Donations to the John Harvard Mall Initiative are tax deductible (we are a legal not-for-profit 501(c)3 with tax ID: 90-0929674). Gifts of all sizes are needed and appreciated. Sponsors ($1,000+) will be acknowledged on a permanent
plaque in the park.
