Holiday Festivities Set for this Weekend Here

Charlestown has a big holiday weekend coming up, with activities for young and old to enjoy. Start on Friday evening with a visit from Mayor Marty Walsh and Santa as the Mayor’s Enchanted Trolley rolls through Thompson Square for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting.  On Saturday and Sunday visit Charlestown Open Studios on all three floors of the StoveFactory at 523 Medford Street, Charlestown on December 6th and 7th from 11AM until 5 PM. Eighteen artists studios at the StoveFactory will have their studios open to the public. There is free parking along Medford Street.  “How The Sith Stole Christmas”, at the Charlestown Working Theater opens Saturday at 3PM a hilarious, intergalactic musical parody written by Nate Kreiger and Gus Viveiros, two members of Charlestown Working Theater’s Advanced Ensemble. Features the incredible singing, dancing, and acting talents of CWT artists ages 6-12. Call the Theater for tickets 617-242-3285 or box office at 866-811-4111

This Year’s Annual Holiday Stroll, sponsored by the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce will be held on Sunday, December 7. Take a stroll through town and enjoy special offers and events at businesses. Enjoy a Christmas Concert by The Copley Singers at St. Mary’s, visit the Christmas Fair at One Thompson Square or stop by the Winter Wonderland at Eden Street Park for a sleigh ride.  The Stroll events end by 4 PM, just in time to swing by the Warren Tavern with an unwrapped toy and have some free appetizers at the annual Toys for Tots event. Just a reminder that because of last weeks’ snowstorm in Maine, the wreath delivery was delayed and we will be hanging the wreaths on Bunker Hill & Main Streets on Saturday, December 6. If you want to volunteer to help the local youths hang the wreaths, give Diane Grant is seeking volunteers to help call 617-549-9786.

Happy Holidays!
