GU 14

Charlestown 0, Tewksbury 8

The Charlestown GU14 team suffered a tough loss to Tewksbury on Saturday at Frasca Field in Tewksbury.  Townie captains for the game were Annie Coviello and Josie Hoyt.  Isabelle Charbonnier and Caroline Collier both played great games in goal for Charlestown.  Charbonnier made a number of great saves during the first half diving into the mud in front of the goal.  Collier was great in goal, playing for her first time this season; she made a number of great saves and was really able to clear the ball to the half-line with her punts.

The game started with a couple of unlucky goals against Charlestown but the girls didn’t give up trying their best to come back.  Emily Pardy was in the net when a shot by one of the forwards rebounded and she was almost able to get the Townies a goal during the first half.  Defenders Bryn O’Hara and Lauren Sweeney made a number of good runs to catch the quick Tewksbury forwards headed for the Townie goal.

After a tough first half the Charlestown girls came out on to the field ready to play and really stepped up their game during the second half.  Forwards Sophie Shea and Charbonnier made a number of good runs towards the goal and Shea was well positioned on a rebound to almost get the Townies a goal.  Forward Maeve Fittz also made a number of beautiful crosses in front of the Tewksbury net.  The girls are now hungry for another W and will come out on to the field strong during their next game!

The girls play their next game Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2:30 p.m. in Charlestown against Melrose.
